ARTIST BIO:

David Zdrazil (pronounced DRAY-zel) is an artist, educator and researcher. His own artwork includes a variety of objects that combine ceramic art and craft. His work is often wood fired makes use of locally found clay and other materials.

Originally from St. Croix County Wisconsin, he studied art at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and earned an M.F.A. at the University of North Texas. He has designed and built wood fired, natural gas, hybrid and hydrogen ceramic kilns. His work has been exhibited and published internationally and he has given presentations at international ceramics conferences.

Zdrazil currently lives in Eureka, California where he teaches at College of the Redwoods and CalPoly Humboldt. He collaborates with other artists through his pottery business called "The California Pot Company" and shares a home studio with his wife Shannon Sullivan.
